About

Founded in 2015, the Edmund H. Shea Jr. Center for Entrepreneurship honors the legacy of the late California entrepreneur and venture capitalist Edmund H. Shea Jr. The Center was made possible through a generous gift from his wife, Mary, and their six children. It continues Mr. Shea鈥檚 mission of inspiring and supporting the next generation of entrepreneurial leaders at Boston College.

Today, the Shea Center serves as the University鈥檚 hub for innovation, creativity, and start-up activity. Its mission is to integrate entrepreneurship into the academic and personal growth of students, serve as a University-wide focal point for interdisciplinary entrepreneurship initiatives and research, and provide students with the foundational skills and broad experience needed to succeed in a variety of career paths. Whether students aspire to start their own ventures, join start-ups or small businesses, or pursue traditional management roles where entrepreneurial thinking is essential, the Shea Center equips them with the mindset and tools to thrive.

The Shea Center also supports four student-run organizations: Start@Shea, the Women Innovators Network (WIN), Entrepreneurs for Social Impact (ESI), and the Venture Capital and Private Equity Association (VCPE). It offers signature courses such as Tech Trek, which connects students with leading entrepreneurs, executives, and investors within the broader Shea network.

All Shea Center events are open to the public, and students are encouraged to explore the calendar regularly for opportunities to learn, collaborate, and pitch their ideas.
