Doreen Richards, DHSc, MEd (she/her), is a Learning Design Consultant in the Center for Digital Innovation in Learning (CDIL) at Boston College. In this role, she partners with faculty and academic programs to design engaging, learner-centered digital learning experiences that align outcomes, assessment, and workload. Her work includes course and program design, support for online and hybrid initiatives, the integration of learning technologies, and the development of materials that help instructors translate their teaching goals into effective, accessible learning environments.

Doreen鈥檚 approach to learning design is grounded in her experience as an academic leader and educator. She has served in leadership roles as Dean of Arts and Health Sciences and currently serves as a peer evaluator for the New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE), bringing an accreditation and quality-assurance perspective to her collaborations. With over 15 years of teaching experience in online, hybrid, and face-to-face settings, she approaches design conversations with a practical understanding of both pedagogical goals and the day-to-day realities faculty and students navigate.

Doreen holds a Doctor of Health Science (DHSc) from Nova Southeastern University and dual Master of Education (MEd) degrees in Online Instructional Design and Curriculum & Instruction from Plymouth State University. Her professional interests include outcomes-based assessment, workload and course design, and the use of learning data to support evidence-informed decisions about teaching and curriculum.
