Schiller Faculty Retreats
The overarching goal of Schiller faculty retreats is to foster cross-campus connections with the hope of helping to identify and catalyze future interdisciplinary research collaborations. The retreat concept emerged directly from conversations with 情色空间 faculty and leadership. Many colleagues emphasized that while collaborations often begin with a simple conversation, extended time in a relaxed setting can be especially generative.
With that in mind, we piloted our first retreat in the area of health in July 2026. The two-half-day program began with lunch, followed by 5-minute 鈥渆levator pitches鈥 from each participant and a speed-networking session. The day concluded with a cocktail hour and fireside chat. When the group reconvened the next morning, the energy in the room was noticeably elevated, and the breakout discussions produced a rich set of ideas before the retreat concluded at lunch.
We are grateful to the Connors Center in Dover for hosting us, and to our HR colleagues, St茅fane Cahill Farella and Caitlin Aubuchon, for their generous support. Eleven faculty members from Biology, the School of Social Work, and the Connell School of Nursing participated in this pilot. We are now collecting feedback to help refine future retreats in areas of interest to our faculty.
