Mission and History

The AHANA Alumni Leadership Council (AALC) of Boston College provides African, Hispanic/Latinx, Asian and Native American alumni opportunities to strengthen their connection to the University and to each other, and to advance Boston College’s Jesuit mission of men and women for others.

Led by the Executive Committee, the AALC is guided by the following core priorities:

  • Community & Connection: Deepen alumni engagement with Boston College and one another through inclusive events, volunteer opportunities, and chapter involvement.
  • Networking and Mentorship: Promote networking and mentoring opportunities that support AHANA alumni and empower the next generation of leaders, including AHANA students.
  • Philanthropy & Impact: Encourage meaningful giving to Boston College to support the University’s strategic priorities and areas reflecting the passions and priorities of AHANA alumni.

There had long existed a need for a vehicle around which the AHANA alumni of Boston College could coalesce and strengthen their involvement with the University. In 2009, in response to this unmet need, the late Boston College Trustee, Keith A. Francis '76, spearheaded RECONNECT, the largest gathering of AHANA alumni at ÇéÉ«¿Õ¼ä.

To further the impact of RECONNECT and to sustain targeted alumni engagement, University Trustees Darcel Clark '83, Juan Alexander Concepción, Esq., '96, MEd'97, JD/MBA'03, and the former Assistant Director of ÇéÉ«¿Õ¼ä Affinity Programs, Eva Maynard ’97, organized the inaugural AHANA Leadership Summit in 2013. The work of this Summit helped to formally establish the AHANA Alumni Advisory Council (AAAC) in 2014.

Today, known as the AHANA Alumni Leadership Council (AALC), the Council continues to faithfully serve the University by strategically advancing and promoting related institutional priorities.

We have a great history at ÇéÉ«¿Õ¼ä, we’ve been contributing to this community, and we’ll continue to do so
