Morrissey College of Arts and Sciences has established the Graduate Student Emergency Fund to provide limited financial assistance to enrolled graduate students in the arts and sciences who experience a sudden, unexpected, and temporary financial hardship that threatens their ability to continue their studies. The fund is intended to address one-time emergencies and is not meant to supplement regular living expenses or provide ongoing financial support.

Students seeking assistance from the Emergency Fund must submit a completed
The application must include a detailed explanation of the financial hardship and supporting documentation.
All applications will be reviewed by the Graduate Student Emergency Fund Review Committee which will be comprised of the associate dean for graduate academic affairs, the associate dean for finance and administration in MCAS, one additional faculty dean from MCAS and in the case of an international student, the associate director for international students and scholars.聽 The committee will assess the student's eligibility and the validity of the financial hardship.
Applicants are expected to have pursued other funding opportunities. 聽
Awards will be made at the discretion of the Graduate Student Emergency Fund Review Committee based on the availability of funds and the demonstrated need of the applicant.
Funds will typically be disbursed as a one-time grant and do not need to be repaid.
Applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application via email.
Many factors will weigh into application decisions including, but not limited to (1) volume of requests at time of application; (2) urgency and nature of request; (3) level of connection between the request and the student鈥檚 academic needs; and (4) other resources or support available to the student.
Decisions of the Graduate School Emergency Fund Committee are final.
